21-year-old arrested for kicking, biting Tyler police officers

What started as a disturbance call ended with a 21-year-old man in jail charged on multiple counts including assault on a public servant.

Officers arrived to a disturbance call in the 4600 block of Paluxy Drive overnight and found Lyndon Ford intoxicated. The officers were in the process of writing a citation when Ford jumped in his Jeep and took off.

Police say he hit a parked car on Inverness Street, rolled his Jeep, and fled on foot. When officers caught up to him, they say he started to kick them.

Officers took Ford to the hospital where Ford started retaliating again by biting two officers.

Ford was booked into the Smith County Jail on multiple counts including two counts of assault on a public servant. He remains in jail on bonds totaling more than $30,000.
