(CBS/CNN) - The State Department has confirmed that three Americans were among those killed during last week's hostage standoff at a natural gas plant in Algeria.
One of them was from the southeast Texas town of Nederland. Victor Lovelady was a family man. His daughter says he put his children first and spent a lot of time making memories with them.
The terrorists who captured the Americans offered to release them if the US released two terror suspects being held in the US. However, the government rejected that deal.
In the end, all of the terrorists and as many as 50 hostages were killed. Seven Americans did make it out of Algeria alive.
