Investigators entered into a consensual encounter with the three men, but very quickly became suspicious of what the men were doing. After speaking with all three suspects, sheriff investigators felt that the three men were engaging in criminal activity and requested consent to search both motor vehicles that they were driving.
Sheriff investigators found five large bundles of marijuana in the back seat of the first pickup truck. Sheriff investigators also found a false compartment in the tool box of the second vehicle that had a mechanical motorized switch that would open the compartment. The compartment was empty, but investigators found evidence of where the compartment had been used in the past to smuggle narcotics.
27-year-old Humberto Lopez-Guzman, 27-year-old Rodolfo Aldaran, and 21-year-old Armando Torres were arrested at the scene and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail.
