3 SFA students killed, 1 injured in 2 car accident

Three Stephen F. Austin students are dead and another is in critical condition after a 2 vehicle accident in Rusk County.

DPS troopers told CBS19 the accident happened on Highway 315, just north of FM 95, around 8:00pm Saturday. It involved a 2006 Ford Escape and an 18-wheeler. Both vehicles were going southbound on 315.

Kevin Garcia of Houston was driving the Ford Escape when he made a U-turn and was hit by the 18-wheeler. The passengers in the Ford Escape--18-year-old Patrick Fagen of Missouri City, 23-year-old Hunter Buck of Bastrop and 21-year-old Kamila Burgos-Carrillo of Pampaulipas, Mexico--were killed.

Garcia, the driver of the Escape, was taken to Trinity Mother Frances in Tyler where he is in critical condition.

Juan Garcia of Pharr was the driver of the 18-wheeler. He was not hurt.
