BULLARD (KYTX) - It was a beastly Saturday for some bikers in East Texas. The 23rd Annual Beauty and the Beast Bicycle Tour took place in Bullard Saturday.
655 bikers from across the country participated in the ride. Event planners said the turnout exceeded their goal by more than 150 bikers.
The event began and ended at Kiepersol Estates and no matter the route, all bikers finished peddling up "The Beast"... a hill in Mt. Sylan.
"It's quite a challenge for them," said 2011 Tour Director Michael Lewis. "The East Texas hills give even the superb athlete an opportunity to meet a lot of challenges out here with a head wind today and with a lot of rolling hills, we're hoping to get some great feedback from our rides today."
Money raised from this years Beauty and the Beast Bicycle Tour will benefit the East Texas Food Bank.
