A Health Alert: Exposing your baby to germs may be beneficial

(CBS)-Germs may actually be good for your baby. Exposing infants to dirt, pet dander and germs may actually benefit them later in life. Researchers at Johns Hopkins University found children exposed to a variety of household bacteria during their first year were less likely to suffer from allergies, wheezing and asthma.
(CBS)-People with sleep apnea could be at increased risk for developing diabetes.  Scientists in Canada looked at 8,500 patients and found even those with mild or moderate sleep apnea were at increased risk. Doctors say less sleep and higher heart rates could lead to diabetes. 
(CBS)- A text messaging program is helping some smokers quit the habit. Researchers at George Washington University say text messages help give smokers constant reminders to stay focused on quitting. The program also allows people to text for a tip or a game to distract them when they have the urge to smoke.
