Lufkin Police Department:
LUFKIN (KYTX) - At approximately 7a.m. on March 25, 2014, officers of the Lufkin Police Department were dispatched to the 400 block of N. Chestnut in reference to suspicious activity.
The caller advised that they observed a vehicle parked next to a residence in the area and that a male subject with a gas can stated that he had ran out of gas. The caller found the activity to be suspicious due to recent burglaries in the area. The subject and vehicle were both gone upon officers' arrival.
Officers checked the area and located the subject in a parking lot in the 700 block of N. Raguet. At that point it was discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen.
The suspect was then identified as Jerrcorri Jeron Henry. A warrant check revealed that Henry had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. Both warrants were for Debit Card Abuse a State Jail Felony. Henry was subsequently arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and the two warrants.
Officers noticed that there were numerous electronics and tools scattered throughout the vehicle. As well, a passerby told officers that Henry was attempting to sell the items. The items were collected and entered into evidence. Lufkin P.D. detectives reviewed the items and compared them with items taken in recent burglaries. At least five of the items have been identified as being stolen during a recent car burglary. The follow up investigation is on-going and new charges are expected to be filed.
The recovery of this stolen vehicle and property was due largely in part to the call of a concerned citizen. The Lufkin Police Department asks that if citizens see suspicious activities in their neighborhoods to please call and make a report to the Lufkin Police Department non-emergency line (936)633-0356.
It is because a concerned citizen took the time to notify the police department that officers were able to conduct an investigation leading to the arrest of a wanted felon and the recovery of stolen property.
