Alleged confession allowed in Texas triple killing

NEW BOSTON (KTBS) - A Texas judge says a teenager's alleged confession in the 2011 slaying of a woman and her two children can be used at trial.

Attorneys for 18-year-old Rachel Pittman wanted her comments to law officers thrown out as she faces trial next month in Rusk County in two of the slayings.

Investigators say Pittman was 16 and a juvenile during the May 2011 fatal stabbings. The bodies of 34-year-old Amanda Doss, 11-year-old Guinevere Doss and 8-year-old Texas Johnson were found in their burned Redwater home.

Wednesday's ruling says Pittman, who'll be tried as an adult, was 17 when she allegedly confessed to officers. Pittman, if convicted of capital murder in the Doss deaths, would not be eligible for execution because she was a juvenile at the time of the slayings.
