EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - On December 3, 2012 Altra Federal Credit Union has raised over $16,000 nationally with its Drive Away Hunger Campaign. "We are very committed to the communities we serve and so are our members," stated Cheryl Dutton, Vice President of Marketing for Altra Federal Credit Union. "Besides the financial contribution achieved by the campaign, Drive Away Hunger also generated awareness of the increasing need our communities face in feeding the hungry."
Altra donated $10 for every car, truck, and motorcycle loan financed through Altra from September 1 through October 31st. Members who matched Altra's $10 donation were rewarded with a rate discount. Altra partnered with the East Texas Food Bank in Tyler as well as agencies in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Tennessee. In each community, Altra's marketing message spotlighted local hunger statistics to increase awareness of the need.
Altra's donation of $3,300 to the East Texas Food Bank will help fund the Tyler Independent School District BackPack Program to provide food to children in need over the weekend.
"Altra is playing a pivotal role in supporting the BackPack Program to help ensure that children have the nutritious food they need over the weekend," said Dennis Cullinane, Executive Director of the East Texas Food Bank. "This generous gift will help provide food for over 20 children for an entire year."
Altra will be presenting the check to the East Texas Food Bank on December 12th at 11 am. The East Texas Food Bank is located at 3201 Robertson Road in Tyler, Texas.
