Amber Alert canceled, Father charged with murder of wife

MARSHALL (KYTX) - 4-year-old Marshall girl Kylie Dunn is safe, but her world has been torn apart. Her father, 35-year-old Brad Dunn sits in the Cass County jail charged with the murder of his wife, 31-year-old Kari Dunn.

Police were called to the Baymont Inn in Marshall Sunday morning around 11:15. That's where they found Kari Dunn unresponsive, and she was pronounced dead.

Police say Brad Dunn allegedly killed her, then took his 4-year-old daughter Kylie and left the scene.

An amber alert was sent out asking drivers to look out for a 1998 Maroon Ford Expedition. A woman in Cass County spotted the car Dunn and his daughter were in Sunday afternoon and called police.

Cass County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Brad Dunn in Linden, Texas and returned Kylie Dunn to family members.

Family members are too devastated to talk with CBS 19 in person, but have released a statement through their friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marshall:

"The family of Kari Dunn would like to respectfully request our space and time to grieve for the loss of our precious daughter, sister and mother.  We are thankful for the show of love and support for her family at this time."

Deacon Sargent with the church says Kari's mother and stepfather are members of the church.

Marshall Police are still investigating the alleged murder and they're waiting on autopsy results before releasing Kari Dunn's exact cause of death.

Brad Dunn has been previously arrested in Gregg County for assault and traffic violations.
