East Texas (KYTX)- Hot air balloons will soon fill the skies over East Texas for the annual Great Texas Balloon Race.
Danny Mogle from our news partner, the Tyler Morning Telegraph, joined us this morning to tell you how you can get in on all the fun.
We're only days from summer's superstar event. I'm talking about the Great Texas Balloon Race that will take place at the airport in Longview.
This year the race will be held in conjunction with the U.S. National Championships. That just means that some of the world's balloon pilots will be here in East Texas competing for 50,000 dollars in cash prizes.
But if you are like me all you want to know is when will those big balloons be up in the sky. That will happen beginning Monday morning. In fact balloons will lift off every morning through Sunday, Sept. 3rd at points in and around Longview.
There is one catch. You have to get up early. They lift off beginning about 6:30 each morning.
Some of the event's most popular attractions - including the balloon glow where they light up the balloons at night - will take place on Friday night and Saturday night - Sept. 1st and 2nd out at the airport.
I have a schedule with everything on it already posted on our website ET wired dot com.
This is the one event you don't want to miss.
