Army Reserve surprises dad at White Oak HS pep rally

WHITE OAK/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Assistant football coach Billy Brown has waited to see his son army Spc. Colton Brown, since May.
With a big game Friday night - plus anxiety thinking his son would be home Saturday - Billy wasn't too thrilled about participating in a pep rally skit.
"We had to get out there to make a bulldog call to bring the bulldogs out of the room. So I was trying to think, 'What am I going to do? I don't even have a pet at home,'" Coach Brown said.
It was all a ruse.
"When I turned around and saw the flags, I didn't really know until I saw his uniform, and then I thought, 'Could that be Colton?'," the coach said. "And I'm thinking, 'I've just been had.'"
Colton said the idea came from one of his dad's students.
"She wanted me to surprise him because she was hearing stories about my dad being sad because I wasn't home yet," the U.S. Army Reserve specialist said.
