Army soldier tries to cure hiccups, shoots friend

KILLEEN (CNN) - A Central Texas man was reportedly trying to help cure a friend's case of the hiccups, but police say the Fort Hood soldier's efforts went terribly wrong.

Police say the men were drinking and watching football on Sunday night, when Private First Class Isaac Young got the hiccups.  That's when Private First Class Patrick Myers allegedly held a gun to Young's head, in an effort to scare the hiccups away.

The arrest report says Myers thought the gun was loaded with dummy rounds, but when the gun went off, a real bullet hit Young in the face.  He died on the way to the hospital.  Myers has been charged with manslaughter.
