From Tyler Police:
UPDATE: Tyler Investigators received numerous tips, after observing the suspect on the news who was involved in the Robbery of a female in the parking lot of Wal-Mart located at 64 West.
The suspect was identified as 52-year-old Gerald Lee McMorris, of Tyler. Investigators secured an arrest warrant for McMorris for Robbery, 2nd degree felony, bond $750,000.
McMorris surrendered to Tyler Police around 12:30 p.m. today, Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the police station.
Update: The woman who was on an ordinary run for groceries spoke with us about her incident on Tuesday around 8:30 p.m. in a Walmart parking lot in Tyler.
She says it was her instinct to fight back when a man forcibly tried to pry her purse from her arm. The 60-year-old, whose identity we are concealing, tells us the man did not threaten her with a weapon.
The woman also says an "angel" came to her rescue-- another shopper who heard her yelling and came running to intervene.

(KYTX) - At approximately 8:30pm on October 8, 2013, a 60 year old white female was walking to her car at Wal Mart at 3820 Hwy 64 West.
The female placed her groceries into her vehicle and walked her buggy to a cart return location. As the female was walking back to her vehicle, she was approached by a suspect who grabbed her purse.
The female refused to let go of her purse and the suspect threw her to the ground, still attempting to take the purse. A nearby customer heard the victim screaming and ran to assist. The suspect then fled on foot.
The victim sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
The suspect is described as a black male approximately 6'0" tall with an average build. He is between the ages of 35 and 40. The suspect was wearing a pink polo shirt and blue jeans. Store video shows the suspect entering a white vehicle and leaving the scene towards the Hwy 64 exit. The vehicle may be a Buick LeSabre.
