Associates stocking shelves in anticipation of Walmart grand opening in Longview

LONGVIEW  (KYTX) - Associates are stocking shelves this week at a new Walmart Neighborhood Market set to open this fall in Longview.

The 41,000-square-foot store in the Spring Hill community will serve a full line of groceries and an assortment of merchandise, according to store manager Michael Hickson.

"We're bringing convenient shopping and low prices to Longview, and the wait is almost over," says Hickson. "We look forward to saving Longview shoppers money so they can live better."

The store has yet to announce a grand opening date. It will be the first grocery store to open in West Longview since voters legalized off-premise beer and wine sales in the area in May 2013.

Walmart has already agreed to pay for installing a traffic signal on Gilmer Road at Heritage Boulevard now under construction, says Longview Public Works Director Rolin McPhee. Yellow lights will flash next week to warn drivers about the new signal, which should become operational the week after Labor Day.
