There's good news for the Henderson area, more jobs are on the way.
Oklahoma-based Atwood's Ranch and Home says it will convert a 140,000 square foot building in the city's industrial park into its newest distribution center.
City officials told us today that Atwood's expects to initially hire about 25 people and that as the center reaches full capacity that number will climb.
Several cities were hoping to attract the center but Henderson had everything that Atwood's was looking for.
The building has good access to a railway and major highways – such as I-20 and U.S. 259.
The building is big enough to meet their needs and we are told it came at a good price.
Most of the company's stores are currently located in Oklahoma and Kansas. Company officials say Texas has proven to be a great market and they want to have a distribution center up and running as part of a strategy of expanding in this part of the state.
To find out why Henderson officials believe the center can help the city's economy in other ways, read Kelly Gooch's story in Thursday's Tyler Paper.
