Authorities raid the home of former Tyler pharmacist arrested on child sex charge

Investigators returned to the home of James Prosperie, 73, on Wednesday. Prosperie is a former Tyler pharmacist who was recently arrested on an aggravated sexual assault of a child charge.

Detectives said they were acting on a search warrant, and looking for specific items in the home. Proserpine was not on the property, located in the 1000 block of Jeff Davis Drive, at the time of the raid.

Officers were heavily armed during most of the search. They said they were taking extra precaution based on the armed stand-off that occurred during Proserpine's initial arrest.

What appeared to be several cardboard boxes with unknown contents were removed from the home between the 10:00 and 11:00 Wednesday morning. Police would not say what they took.

Prosperie's arrest came on September 3. He was released on $100,000 bond on September 5. He was formerly the owner of The Medicine Shoppe on 5th Street in Tyler.
