Changes could soon be on the way, Kilgore City Officials proposed a new Kilgore Beautification Plan at Tuesday's city council meeting.
The plan consists of 11 initiatives, and could potentially cost the city at least $475,000 dollars.
Some of the highlights of the 2 year plan include painting over 200 oil well pumps and storage tanks throughout the city, establishing a community garden, and signage along the I20 corridor.
"Another of the 11 elements is to tear down abandoned structures, and potentially making it more inviting to visitors" - Kevin Boyce,
Kilgore Director of Planning Carol Windham says the plan is about making the city of Kilgore a better place to live.
"City beautification always makes a citizen proud to live there, and makes businesses proud. And it overall helps quality of life." - Carol Windham, Director of Planning
People in Kilgore like Jamie Bell are ready to see the changes.
"Certain areas of the city look like they don't do any type of beautification. Of course it would be a bad thing for the city, if that's the first thing people see when they come into the city." - Jamie Bell, Has Lived in Kilgore for 40 years.
But that could change if the city council approves the plan April 23rd.
