Big Sandy votes to divert 1/4-cent sales tax to streets by 5-to-1 margin

BIG SANDY (KYTX) - Also on Tuesday, voters in Big Sandy said yes to using revenue from its quarter-cent sales tax to fix local streets.

Big Sandy has collected the tax since 1994 for community development, including building a business park to attract jobs.  But the mayor says people in Big Sandy have complained about their streets for at least thirty years.

Voters approved the change by a 59-to-12 vote.
