Boy Scouts Lift Ban on Gays

LONGVIEW (KYTX) --- "At the annual meeting of the Boy Scouts of America 1,400 members voted and 61% voted to  pass  the proposal to let gay members into the organization."

Josslyn  Morgan is a mother of two, a girl who participates in the girl scouts, and a five year old boy who will soon enter the boy scouts.
She says regardless of the decision  the boy scouts will make her child better.
"Just a better well rounded child, and allow him to meet new people."
Boy Scouts of America President Wayne Perry says it's all about the kids.
"No matter how you feel about this issue, kids are better off in scouting. Our vision is to serve every kid. We want every kid to have a place where they belong, to learn, and to grow, and feel protected."
The organization has over two and a half million active members and the change of policy will go into effect on January 1st.
For parents like Josslyn, she says participating in the Boy Scouts is an experience every child should have .
"I don't agree with the homosexual life, but I don't think anyone should be banned for that reason. Everyone should be treated equally."

"We did speak with some parents who would no got on camera who said they did not agree with the decision.  The still want their children in the scouts -- but they don't think it's necessary to bring sexual orientation up at all."
