Business News: Keurig hiking prices

(CNN)- Keurig Green Mountain says it plans to hike prices by 9 percent for the K-Cup packets used in its signature brewing system.  The company also plans to raise prices of bulk coffee and other products beginning in November.  Keurig Green Mountain said the decision is in "direct response" to the higher cost of coffee, which includes a nearly 55 percent rise in "green coffee prices." The company said it buys much of its coffee from organic and free trade producers.

(CNN)- Starbucks is making big changes to improve scheduling for its baristas.  This after the story of a struggling employee was featured in the New York Times.  The single mother told the newspaper her constantly changing work schedule made it difficult to care for her family and continue her education.  In response, Starbucks executives say they will immediately update scheduling software, with an aim at providing "stability and consistency".  Starbucks says the changes will benefit more than 130,000 baristas nationwide.

(CBS)- It really is a dog's life.  A new feature launching today on "DogVacay's iPhone app" will 'bark' in order to get your canine's attention.  The app emits one of several sounds that in theory should get your pooch to pay attention and pose for the camera.  Meows and squeaky toy sounds are other options available.  The Santa Monica based company already lets owners book dog stays throughout the U.S. and Canada.
