(CBS) - In Business News this morning, Smithfield foods is dropping former Food Network star Paula Deen as a spokeswoman.

The announcement comes just days after the Food Network said it would not renew Deen's contract.

The 66 year old TV chef admitted using racial slurs that came to light in a recent discrimination lawsuit.

(CBS) - Boeing continues to have problems with its 787 Dreamliner.

For the third time in the past week, a flight involving Boeing's newest plane was cut short for a mechanical reason.

Regulators grounded the 787s earlier this year for three months because of problems involving overheating batteries on two planes.




(CBS) - A new survey finds 76 percent of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.


According to, fewer than 25 percent of Americans have enough money in their savings account to cover at least six months of expenses to cushion a job loss or medical emergency.

27 percent had no savings at all. Respondents say after paying debts
and household expenses, there just isn't enough money left over for savings.
