CASA for Kids of ETX gets donation

Court Appointed Special Advocates got a big boost Tuesday. After a month long campaign at Jersey Mike's sandwiches, the non profit group received a check for more than $7,000.

"We're very honored at Jersey Mike's to give back to kids in the community," a restaurant representative said during the check presentation.

Leaders at CASA said the donation couldn't have come at a better time, as cases involving children continue to climb and an ever-increasing number of foster children require additional care.

"There are a variety of reasons for that but a lot of the children are removed because of addiction in their homes," Executive Director Patty Garner said. "Parents just can't take care of kids when they have those kinds of issues going on."

CASA's services cost about $1,000 per year, per child.
