Celebrating "The Dream" at Tyler Public Library

TYLER (KYTX) - Tyler Public Library is celebrating the anniversary of an important event in American history and they are inviting the public to join in. 

The 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King's historical March on Washington, one of the largest political rallies for human rights located on the Washington Mall, will be celebrated by the Tyler Public Library on Wednesday, Aug. 28. with the showing of Dr. King's  "I Have a Dream" speech.

There will be two showings, at noon and at 4:30 p.m.  The film is approximately one hour in length and will be shown in the Library's auditorium.

"Dr. King was such a moving speaker and we are excited to offer this amazing part of our nation's history at the Library," said City Librarian, Mary Vernau. "All generations can experience this event on the big screen, as if they were there 5 decades ago."

There will also be special book displays from the children's and adult's collections, highlighting Dr. King's work and the Civil Rights Movement. These items are available for check out along with many other great resources.
