Cherokee County House destroyed in early morning fire

JACKSONVILLE (KYTX) - The exact cause of a fire that destroyed a home early Wednesday morning is under investigation, but fire officials with the Cherokee County Sheriff's office say a space heater may have caused the blaze.

Two elderly residents and their 6-year-old grandchild were able to escape the burning home through a window.

The fire broke out around 6:30 a.m. at a home located in the 1100 block of County Rd. 3104.

Gallatin and Earles Chapel firefighters were assisted by the Jacksonville Fire Department who also responded to the blaze.

No injuries were reported.
