EAST TEXAS (KYTX) -- When it comes to the American beer industry, there's no denying it's a man's world. But 61-year-old Shazz Lewis is out to change all that.
"There was nothing in the cooler that was pink and I'm like what is this about," Lewis said.
Two years ago this unlikely entrepreneur had an epiphany while browsing the beer coolers in her husband's beverage store.
"We looked at 400 beers at the store and there was not one that had pink," she said.
So Lewis created "Chick Beer,"a low calorie lager in a six pack designed to look like a purse.
"It's refreshing," she said. "It doesn't fill you up and it doesn't make you feel bloated like other beers do."
Right now, Chick Beer is only available in Maryland but the company now has its sights set on Texas, Florida, California and New York, the four biggest beer consuming states.
Of the roughly 3 billion cases of beer sold in the united states each year, 700 million are bought by women.
