(KYTX) - An Idaho school district is trying to explain to an angry father why his kindergartner was left alone in a room hours after school was let out.
A Washington elementary school teacher put Tanner Cagle into a room called the "tutor room" as punishment. The teacher then forgot Tanner was in there -- and left for the day.
The rooms are normally used for small group exercises -- but Tanner's father says his son was put in there for something else.
"He had taken apart a link in a countdown chain until Christmas and I'm sorry that's not something you put a kid in an isolation cell for," James Cagle, Tanner's father.
The school district says it's still investigating and trying to keep every student safe.
But Tanner's father says that's not enough and wants the teacher fired.
