Children Are A Gift: Bryan

EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - Bryan enjoys animals and was overwhelmed when he walked into the agriculture building at the East Texas State Fair recently. "Oh, that's sharp," he said touching the tip of a longhorn.

"Bryan is a sweet child, laid back, easy-going, just go-with-the-flow type of kid," said Ashley Gipson, with Child Protective Services.

This 12-year-old is a happy, outspoken young man who enjoys sports and is doing well in school. He's also well-mannered and polite. "I like to be nice to each other and everything and be respectful and you know just get a long and have fun and everything."

Bryan has been in foster care about two years, removed because of abuse and neglect. Despite that, he has a caring heart.

Gipson said, "Even though I know his history, he's been through a lot, you can't tell by his smile and his personality."

And he's ready for a new life and a second chance. "I want a family. Sometimes it just feels weird when you don't have a real family while everybody does."

Bryan is bilingual and his culture is important to him, but what he wants most in a forever family is love.

"Somebody who really cares about me and everything. It really doesn't matter what kind they are just somebody who cares about me," he said sincerely.

"He's ready to be adopted. At one point he was a little leery about being adopted, but he's ready now," explained Gipson. Bryan adds, "I've been hoping I get one real fast. So I've been waiting a while."

He would bring a family much "love and happiness." Through it all, Bryan has relied on his faith and when he grows up he says he wants to be a priest. "I like hearing things about God. He's like always with me. So I feel safe all the time."
