City of Longview saves money on repairing oil-surfaced streets

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - The City of Longview saved nearly $60-thousand dollars on phase two improvements to oil and dirt-surfaced streets in Longview.

Voters in 2011 approved bond money to resurface 12 miles of oil roads with asphalt.

Tyler-based Reynolds and Kay contractors completed phase two under budget.

The savings will be devoted a city account that could be used to fix more roads or help pay for other projects in the $52.6 million bond package.
