(KYTX) - Regional developers are looking at the possibility of a high-speed rail system that would run along Interstate 20.
Although it is only being talked about, the City of Tyler is already considering ways to take advantage of the opportunities it could one day bring.
This board was created to look at long-term regional development issues, especially issues dealing with transportation.
They are very aware that this idea of connecting Dallas and Shreveport with a high-speed rail seems to be gaining momentum. They want to be ready with a plan in place should it happen.
But clearly it would make it much easier to live in Tyler and commute to work in Dallas or Shreveport.
Today the board announced it would use grant money to explore the possibilities.
