WINONA (KYTX) -- The city of Winona is about to flip the switch on its new Code Red system. So now is the time to get signed up.
Code Red allows the city to send out alerts via phone, text and email. They can be sent city-wide or focused on a single neighborhood. Mayor Rusty Smith said the city went ahead with purchasing a code red system after watching it succeed in local schools.
"It works really well for them," Smith said. "The parents like it. They get notified of things. And that's kind of what go us thinking along the same lines and looking into the system."VO CONT
The city already has a list of around 180 land line numbers for Code Red. To add your email or cell phone number click here.
