EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - The cold front has moved across East Texas bringing a sharp drop in temperatures and a turn to strong northwest winds. Winds will gust to over 30 mph tonight and Friday.
Showers will end early Friday. Low temperatures overnight are expected to be in the high 30s and low 40s, and some new record lows will likely be set for May 3rd. Record lows are 42 degrees in Tyler, 39 in Longview and 43 in Lufkin. All-time record lows for May include 37 degrees at Tyler and Longview and 39 degrees at Lufkin.
Saturday morning also will be chilly with lows near 39 degrees, and record lows will be threatened for May 4th. After that, expect warmer temperatures with highs reaching 70 degrees Saturday afternoon.
