LONGVIEW (KYTX) - You live in Bivins Addition, you get used to the sound of trains.
Laughter has also been a familiar sound here, but there's less of it than 79 years ago.
Years ago, Journal Street was the only way across the tracks into Bivins Addition.
Luevena Harris owns Precision Supercuts salon next to the track.
Harris says trains carry many of her problems, including men who hopped off a locomotive and caused mischief several months ago.Neighbors here keep their yards manicured, but Harris says they need help from the city, especially with overgrown brush.
Architect Gerald Bratz serves on Longview's Historic Preservation Commission.
He's compiling history on Bivins Addition, hoping not only to preserve this neighborhood but also to help people who live and work here.
