SMITH COUNTY (KYTX) - East Texas veterans took center stage tonight in a celebration just for them.
The 4th annual Country for Our Country held at Villa de Felicita played out in true East Texas fashion to help raise money for vets.
Organizers say the event started last night when they honored Vietnam veterans and continued today with the big concert -- and all the help adds up in a big way.
"Very blessed to come back home and pick up where they left off and sometimes that means starting over," says Mary Pennington, board president for Country for Our Country. "So that's where we come in as we try to help them better themselves, carry on with their education and be able to take care of their families."
Organizers say the event is always emotional for the vets, but their work to raise money pays off year round.
