(WTSP) Wesley Chapel, Florida -- Two people were shot at a Wesley Chapel movie theater after an apparent argument over texting. One of the victims has died.
It happened at Cobb Theater's Grove 16 & CineBistro on Monday afternoon. The Pasco County Sheriff's Office says two couples were sitting in front of each other, getting ready to watch the movie Lone Survivor.
Sheriff Chris Nocco says the male victim was on his phone and texting before the movie began, which allegedly aggravated the couple behind him. An argument between the couples broke out, and the male suspect took out a gun and shot the man and woman sitting in front of him.
Both victims were transported to a Bay area hospital, where the man was pronounced dead. The woman reportedly has non-life threatening injuries.
A good Samaritan inside the theater was able to detain the suspect until deputies arrived. The theater was evacuated without incident.
Sheriff Nocco describes the shooting as an "isolated incident" and that the two couples did not know each other.
In summer 2012, a man killed a dozen people and injured 70 at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado. Twenty-six-year-old James Holmes is charged in the killings.
