Citizen helps Lufkin police nab suspects in Home Depot attempted theft

Three suspects were arrested after a failed third attempt at Lufkin Home Depot in Lufkin Wednesday, July 26.

LUFKIN - Three suspects are in jail after a failed third attempt at trying to steal over $21,000 in merchandise at Home Depot in Lufkin.

Marquis White, 19, Lance Minneweather, 26, and Jasmine Hinds, 27 are charged with engaging in organized criminal activity in connection with six previous shopping incidents at the same store. It was the failed attempt Wednesday that ended in their arrests.

White and Menneweather allegedly entered the store at 1 p.m., and started filling up buggies with tool sets, but were noticed by loss prevention employees who then contacted the Lufkin Police Department.

Hinds was allegedly their parking lot lookout, and alerted the group to the police, and the chase began.

Bodycam footage shows White surrendering to a citizen whom White believed was an officer due to his clothing and shouting at him to get on the ground. Minneweather crossed the bridge and attempted to hide in a bush at a home.

Hinds is not shown in the footage above, but she was stopped in a black Charger and arrested.

The three are booked into the Angelina County Jail on various bonds.
