DA: Big Sandy man pleads guilty to murder in fatal 2011 wreck near Kilgore

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - A 32-year-old Big Sandy man was sentenced to 30 years in prison Monday after pleading guilty to murder in the death of a woman near Kilgore in November 2011.

Anthony Kevin Brown Jr. pled guilty to the first degree felony during jury selection Monday at the Gregg County Courthouse.

Brown was already on three years' probation in Upshur County for possession of methamphetamine in November 2011, when state troopers say driving drunk in his truck, crossed a median on FM 2276 and struck an SUV driven by Nancy Gwen Huyser, who was killed in the wreck.

Gregg County Assistant District Attorney Stacey Brownlee said Brown was also indicted for intoxication manslaughter, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison. But because he had two prior drunk driving convictions, Brown was also charged with murder because his intoxicated driving was already a felony offense, Brownlee said.
