Dallas police shoot, kill suspect accused of firing shots, kidnapping kids

DALLAS (WFAA) — Police in Dallas fired shots at a kidnapping suspect during a pursuit late Monday morning, said a source with the Dallas Police Department.

The source says police were in pursuit of the suspect when he stopped his vehicle, jumped out and pulled out a weapon. According to Monica Cordova, spokeswoman with Dallas police, four officers chased after the suspect on foot.

During the foot chase, an officer fired at the suspect, who died from his injuries. Authorities have released few other details.

According to the source, the suspect fired shots at a mother earlier in the morning and then grabbed her children and forced them into a car with him. He fled the scene and was later located at an apartment complex in Oak Cliff, where he fled the scene in a vehicle without the children inside.

Authorities say the children are OK.
