DEA busts steroid lab in Cherokee Co.

CHEROKEE CO. (KYTX) -  Investigators and Deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at a home on FM-3052 in the Mixon Community near Bullard Thursday evening.

They were assisted by narcotics investigators from DPS (Texas Department of Public Safety), and Agents from the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration).

The investigation began earlier in the day when investigators received information about the presence of a lab inside the residence. Because of the type of equipment and chemicals described, the type and purpose of the lab was not easily identified by investigators. However, during the course of the investigation throughout the day, a suspect was developed and information was learned that the suspect was possibly involved in the manufacture and use of steroids.

Once the search warrant was obtained and executed, investigators and agents found and collected chemicals, including containers of Anadrol (Oxymetholone), D-bol (Methandrostenolone), and Cialis; lab equipment included beakers, flasks, burettes, tubing and vacuum chambers; and notebooks containing "recipes" and outlines for the manufacture of steroids.

The name of the suspect is not being released at this time as an arrest has not been made. Officials do not have an estimate on the value of the items collected at this time due to this type of lab being very rare.
