Dennis Alexander named Head Football Coach/Athletic Director for Troup ISD

TROUP -- Mr. Dennis Alexander has been named the new Head Football Coach/Athletic Director of Troup Independent School District beginning July 24, 2012.

Alexander most recently served as head Football Coach/Athletic Director at Harleton High School in Harleton, TX. He has 40 years of coaching experience, with 38 of those serving as Head Football Coach/Athletic Director. He has received many coaching awards, including Texas High School Coach of the Year (Texas Sportswriters Association, 1983, 1985) and Harris Poll Coach of the Year (1983).

He has coached 24 playoff teams, including the 1983 and 1985 State Champions and 1984 State Finalists, Daingerfield, TX.

Alexander graduated from Rice University in 1970. Alexander takes over for Chuck Griffin who resigned earlier this month.

A reception will be held for Mr. and Mrs. Alexander on Thursday, July 26 from 6-7 pm in the Troup ISD Board Room.
