DiMaggio's family requests DNA samples

(CNN/KYTX) -  James DiMaggio's family is requesting DNA samples from the family of Hannah Anderson, the 16-year-old girl he's accused of kidnapping. The reason? They want to know if he was Hannah and 8-year-old Ethan's biological father.

The accused kidnapping and murder suspect left $112,000 dollars to the surviving family members of his alleged victims. Dimaggio died during a shootout with federal authorities earlier this month. Prior to that, police say DiMaggio set fire to a house where Christina Anderson, and her son, Ethan were discovered dead.

Hannah Anderson was allegedly kidnapped by DiMaggio, but was later recovered. The DiMaggios say they're not going to contest the policy that gives the money to Hannah Anderson's grandmother. They just want to know if he was the father of the two children.
