RENO, NEVADA - Update: Cause of disturbance at Trump rally revealed
The disturbance at the Trump rally was reported to be caused by a registered Republican. Austyn Crites, 33, simply had an anti-Trump sign to display his displeasure with his party's nominee.
Members of the audience yelled "gun" which lead to the commotion that took place and the immediate removal of Trump from the stage by Secret Service.
Crites sign read, "Republicans Against Trump."
"It's a sign that you can find online. I held up the sign and initially people around me were just booing me telling me to get out of there. Then a couple of these guys tried grabbing the sign out of my hands," Crites said.
Members of the audience indicated that Crites was the aggressor. One audience member reported seeing Crites hand contact a few people's faces.
Strike says he did not strike anyone, but after he was taken to the ground he felt as if he was mobbed. He said that multiple people tackled him, holding down his arms and legs before police intervened, taking him away in handcuffs.
Crites had no weapon. He was released shortly after the incident.
Donald Trump was abruptly rushed off the stage by Secret Service agents today in the middle of a campaign speech in Nevada.
There was a scuffle in the audience near the front of the stage. Several members of the rally reported they saw a Trump supporter raise up a sign right before the crowd broke and the chaos took place.
Trump raised a hand to block his eyes from the stage lights before the Secret Service rushed him away from the scene.
Secret Service agents and SWAT officers wasted no time in detaining the alleged man and ushering him away into a side room.
Trump returned to the stage a few moments later and finished his speech.
"Nobody said it was going to be easy for us, but we will never be stopped. We will never be stopped. I want to thank the Secret Service. These guys are fantastic," Trump said.
The rest of the Trump event continued as planned. The nature of the disturbance is still unclear.
