TYLER (KYTX) - An army of Meals on Wheels volunteers took to the streets of East Texas Wednesday to deliver hot meals to people in need. It was part of the organization's March for Meals event to bring attention to the non-profit ministry's cause.
Meals on Wheels serves meals nearly every day of the week and Wednesday members of the community including CBS19's John Adams and Justin Earley participated too. The purpose is to take meals to local seniors and other people who are homebound. Dozens of members of the community Thursday including 19 area mayors got out to do the same thing.
People who receive the meals are unable to prepare meals for themselves. June Fulton who receives the meals said, "I'm really grateful for them, don't know what we'd do without them. We'd probably be weighing a lot less, wouldn't be eating much!"
Meals on Wheels Ministry currently serves more than 3,000 people across 6 counties in East Texas.
