DPS trooper arrests Whitehouse police officer for DWI

SMITH COUNTY (KYTX) - A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper arrested a Whitehouse police officer early Thursday morning for driving while intoxicated.

Officer Darrell Robertson, 39, of Tyler, was driving south on FM 756 in his personal car when the DPS trooper stopped him for a traffic violation, according to DPS Trooper Jean Dark.
During the investigation of the stop, the arresting trooper found probable cause to that the Robertson was allegedly intoxicated.

Robertson was released on bond of $500 around 3:55 a.m. Thursday after spending just over a hour in jail.

According to Whitehouse Police Chief Craig Shelton, Robertson resigned his position with Whitehouse Police Department Thursday morning.

Robertson was with Whitehouse PD since March 2012 after previously working for the Smith County Sheriff's Department.
