DWI suspect arrested after crashing into Texarkana police car

TEXARKANA, Tx. (KTBS) - A Texarkana, Texas man was arrested after crashing into a police car while allegedly driving while intoxicated.

It happened on Saturday, February 15th in the 2700 block of Richmond Road. Texarkana, Texas Police Sergeant William McAnally was patrolling when his patrol unit was struck from behind by a suspected drunk driver.

Officers responded to the scene and found a white car had driven into the back of Sergeant McAnally's patrol vehicle. When officers went to talk to the driver, 43 year-old Jackie Benton, they could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Benton's breath. After performing a field sobriety test, officers determined that Benton was indeed intoxicated and he was placed under arrest for DWI.
