TYLER (KYTX) - One east Texas man got the chance to go back in time by playing a character in the newly released "Legend of Hercules" movie based on the Greek mythology hero.
CBS 19's Katiera Winfrey sat down with the Hercules extra, who says landing the job was a once- in- a- lifetime experience that he wasn't expecting.
The legend of Hercules is a myth many are familiar with: a demi-god with super strength, and impressive fighting skills.
"It's just phenomenal really."
Brent Thompson got a chance to be a part of that myth.
"You truly got to go back in time... You're isolated, so you're really walking around spending your day with villagers and these characters so it really helps get into these roles," he said.
Thompson never imagined a business trip to Bulgaria would lead to an audition, to meeting leading actors, to ultimately landing two roles in a major motion picture.
He plays a Viking king leading a marauding group of Vikings and has a speaking role as a village leader.
"It happened to be the coolest scene in the movie."
The cool scene shown in the movie trailer shows Hercules breaking down pillars he's chained to.
Thompson said, " It was absolutely something you'll never forget."
Thompson never had aspirations to become an actor, but has always been fond of Greek mythology and other ancient battle stories.
"If you're gonna be in one film in your life, it's a pretty good film to be in, Hercules is such a important mythological super hero figure."
He said the days were hot and long in Bulgaria, however taking part in the Legend of Hercules is an experience he'll never forget and would be willing to do again.
