East Texas Pastor receives six life sentences

GILMER (KYTX) - A former local pastor has received six life sentences on child molestation charges.

Hugo Fluellen, of Gilmer was sentenced by Upshur County District Judge Lauren Parish after a jury convicted him of indecency with a child, and aggravated sexual assault of a child.

The jury heard evidence that Fluellen was a preacher and began touching his victim when she was in the second grade, Witness testimony indicated Fluellen would often molest his victim on the way home from church after she had attended the church and sang in the choir. Hugo molested his victim up until 2012 when he was arrested.

Evidence also proved the defendant was the father of the victim's baby which was born last year.

Today the victim is 18 years old.

In a statement from Upshur County District Attorney, Billy W. Byrd, said DNA evidence was offered that established the defendant as the father of the victim and the father of the victim's baby.

The life sentences were stacked by Judge Parish.
