East Texas Regional Airport, TSA dispute airport's No. 4 ranking for confiscated weapons

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - East Texas Regional Airport officials say an Associated Press report released Wednesday ranking the airport in the top five for guns confiscated by Transportation Security Administration agents is wrong.

The A.P. cited statistics from the Transportation Security Administration -- saying Gregg County's airport averaged 4.9 guns confiscated for every 100,000 passengers over the past two years.

That ranked the airport fourth in the nation for seized weapons. But Airport Director Roy Miller and a spokesman with the T.S.A. both say no weapons have been confiscated at East Texas Regional since September 2010.

The T.S.A. says no weapons were confiscated by agents at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport in 2011 and 2012, also.
