East Texas under Flash Flood Watch Monday evening throughTuesday

(KYTX) - The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Flash Flood Watch from Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon.

The watch includes Bowie, Franklin,Titus, Camp, Morris, Wood, Upshur, Marion, Smith, Gregg, Harrison,Cherokee,Rusk, and Panola counties in East Texas.

According to The National Weather Service, a slow moving cold front and large upper level trough will slowly push across the four state area and focus heavy rainfall over much of region over the course of the next day or more.

Widespread rainfall from training showers and thunderstorms will likely develop during the overnight hours and continue through the day Tuesday before slacking off from west to east across the region.

Additional rainfall may develop late tuesday into midweek as well.

For now, excessive heavy rainfall across the region is expected with storm rainfall totals of two to four inches possible with isolated higher amounts.

Forecast: Cloudy with a 20% chance spotty showers Monday morning, increasing to a 60-70% later in the day with locally heavy rainfall at times.

Highs between 82-84.

Temperatures drop into the mid-60's during the day tomorrow. Heavy rain threat continues though Wednesday morning.
