East Texas woman turns to Facebook to find thief

PALESTINE (KYTX) - What would you do to find a thief? For one woman in Palestine, the answer is simple.

April Burton has more than 1,500 friends on her facebook page. So, when her house was broken into, allegedly by a man she knows, she went straight to her facebook page and posted a picture of him.

"If he's done it to me, he's done it to other people," said April Burton.

Burton said this man, who's identity we're protecting for now, had been a volunteer at her animal shelter for about a week.

She said on Sunday night, while she was at church,  another volunteer walked in on him stealing her guns.

He recorded video on his phone.

"Brandon heard him on the phone saying we have to hurry because she's at church," said Burton.

April's facebook post has been shared nearly 70 times. She said a lot of people have identified the man. Among them, the man's soon to be ex- wife, who said he did the same thing to her.

"I've had four people that have called, that have been robbed by him. I have a tip from one lady who knows who owns the pickup who came to pick him up," said Burton.

Burton said she hasn't seen the man since Sunday.

She's just upset he got away with so many of her things, including the money that was hidden under her medication.  She said she was going to use the money to buy Christmas presents for her nephew.

"If I don't do something and it happens to the next person, then it's partially my fault, so I want him stopped," said Burton.
